A recent study by FreightWatch found that US cargo theft increases as much as 28 percent during the holidays. What can you do to protect yourself?

First check with your employer to see what policies and procedures they have implemented to protect from cargo theft. Here are a few tips that may provide added protection from cargo thieves:

  • Make sure your load is attended to or  is in a secure lot.
  • Be aware of high theft geographical areas or high theft materials.
  • Utilize anti-theft equipment to secure your load.
  • Be familiar with the security and surveillance that is available at drops and stops.

The Department of Labor reported that the employment of youth in ages of 16-24 years rose by 1.7 million from April through July of 2011. Learn more about the Department of Labor’s report here. Many companies nationwide hire seasonal help during the summer months and see a significant drop in their staff as the fall season approaches.

Do you find yourself in need of additional staff as fall approaches? Employee turnover is expensive, time consuming, and can have a direct impact on your relationships with clients. If your business warrants additional staff consider the following:
